Choosing your investments or funding your investment accounts, etc 
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
The hardest part is managing your emotions and dealing with the ups and downs that can come with investing 
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
Social media has caused so many of us to develop a “get rich quick” mentality, especially when it comes to the stock market 
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
It’s really easy to fall into the trap of chasing “10000% returns overnight” or the feeling that you’re “behind”
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
The truth is, lack of patience is one of the main reasons people fail in investing, specifically the stock market 
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
In my past life as an athlete, I had a coach that always said:
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
“Don’t get too high with the highs and don’t get too low with the lows”
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
I think that translates extremely well into the world of investing 
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
The truth is: investing is a long game
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
There are years, like this year, where the stock market goes on a tear and investing is on “easy mode”
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
There are years, like 2022, where the stock market is pretty much down the entire year & it feels like it’ll never go back up again
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
Both are necessary parts of your journey as an investor 
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
It’s easier said than done, but if you can learn how to “zoom out”, you drastically shift the odds in your favor 
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
A solid, long term approach allows you to take advantage of drops in the market as buying opportunities while also riding out the growth of the good years (like 2024)
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
But if you’re constantly chasing “the next hot stock” or treating stocks like scratch off lottery tickets, you’ll have a hard time finding any success 
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
Investing for the long run gives you more “room for error” and allows you to have more peace of mind, regardless of whether the market is up, down or sideways 
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
