ROOFTOP
To take good pictures, you usually have two options.
Be low on the ground, which means getting out of the car which not always allowed.
Second option is to be high and sitting on the roof is a good option. This is not always allowed and you should check with the rangers first.
A bean big will replace a tripod that is never easy to place on a roof rack (unless you can place a wooden board).
The car roof is in my opinion a safe place but you should not attract too much attention because you stand out. Lions don’t see you in a car. They see the mass and not what is inside. I’m not so sure if this is true when you are on top of the car. So spotters seat in front of the car on a small chair and seem to be safe.
My daughter shahinaz_samoy who is a certified field guide has seaten their a few times... though her middle name is “Danger”🥵😂.
What’s your favorite spot to take photos during a safari ?

FYI: Camera is a Canon 1Dx Mark II. Roof rack is a frontrunnerza roof rack, one of the strongest rack on the market in my opinion.
