FOOTSTEPS
It’s never easy to walk in someone’s footsteps bigger than you.
We start to try to walk in our dad’s shoes and one day, we even try to walk in an elephant’s footsteps.
During wet season, Kudiakam Pan is lightly flooded. The thick hard crust turns into a muddy trap. It is often hard to know if you are going to break the crust and get bogged after the rainy season. Think of this as a frozen lake. You have to know if the crust can or will support the weight of your vehicle.
This elephant has left his marks. I guess the LandCruiser would have done it too and would probably have gotten stuck for a while.
While we crossed the pan, we could feel at times that the crust was still “fragile”. Soon after the rainy season, it’s better to stick to the edge of the pan before venturing to the middle later in the year.
