Tangueros close their eyes during tango to immerse themselves more deeply in the music and feelings, to feel their partner better and to focus on the intimate dialogue that takes place between them, rather than being distracted by the outside world. 

Tango dancing is not just a movement, but a deep emotional experience. By closing their eyes, dancers disconnect from visual stimuli and completely surrender to the music and their inner feeling, which allows them to feel the dance more fully.

Tango is a very close and intimate dance. Closed eyes make dancers more sensitive to the partner’s touch, to his movements, to how he leads or follows. 

Tango is called «the secret dance of two people.» The partners’ glances can be a random source, and closed eyes create a more intimate, visible atmosphere, where the whole focus is on their external contact and mutual understanding, which is manifested through body language.

The woman closes her eyes and instantly feels whether she can trust her partner, whether he knows where he is leading her. 

The man closes his eyes and instantly feels whether the woman is able to follow him and follow the beat of the music. If the balance is disturbed, the woman begins to try to lead, control the man, endlessly correcting and lecturing him. Then the man loses his masculinity and leadership position and women lose their femininity. 

 If the man does not know «where he is going», he does not know how to lead the woman and this also leads to imbalance between partners. If there is no synchronization between the partners and their have to make an effort to achieve this, meeting resistance from the partner or them have no contact with the body, then the pair dance turns into torture, not pleasure.

The same rules apply in real life between partners.
