This quote comes from a play by William Congreve, an English playwright of the classical era who pioneered the British «comedy of manners» and was nicknamed «the English Molière.» This expression emphasizes that the rage of a scorned woman can be more powerful than any other rage, and that love turned to hate can become the source of great wrath. 

Desire to Regain Control: Rage can be an attempt to regain a sense of control over the situation that was lost due to rejection, to take revenge, to prove one’s importance and value. 

P.S: One of my passionate hobbies has always been observing people and studying their emotions. I felt like a little scientist, noticing every detail in people’s movements, reactions, emotions, and feelings…
