Last week I had the pleasure of hearing Jacinda Ardern speak with Business Chicks and meet her *pinch me* that was a wonderful moment!

Jacinda shared MANY insights from her career about leadership, politics, career progression, empathy, growth, sensitivity, the importance of #diversityequityinclusion and much more! As well as her experience/views on #impostersyndrome and the #confidencegap

For Jacinda, Imposter Syndrome was first discussed with a teacher. He shared a story about how he felt’:

“A leprechaun will jump out from the desk at the back of the class and tell everyone that I don’t know what I am doing’ and he was explaining to her #impostorsyndrome 

In this conversation Jacinda credited her own ability to push through Imposter Syndrome to 2 things: 

One, there was no time to ‘dwell on it’ as things were coming at her so fast as Prime Minister which meant she simply has to keep taking steps forward. 

Two, That school teacher who was so important in her life and had introduced her to the name ‘Imposter Syndrome’. 

Because Imposter Syndrome is real, it’s global and it can be debilitating for so many. 

It can impact (or stall)careers as well as emotional, mental and physical health. 

Knowing there is a name for these feelings /this experience brings so many comfort around the world.

So the sooner we can understand, speak about and navigate through our Imposter Syndrome the better, because you are not alone.
