In abdominoplasty, the goal is not only to remove excess skin and subcutaneous fat, but also to restore a stronger, flatter contour by tightening the abdominal wall with plication sutures. By reinforcing the inner “corset” of the abdomen, plication can help create a more defined waistline and contribute to a more stable, long-lasting result.

At 2 months, the abdomen is usually much smoother and more contoured, although healing and scar maturation continue over the following months.
