Two communities woke up carrying something they didn’t ask for.

Black people, who watched two celebrated Black men Michael B. Jordan and Delroy Lindo, absorb one of the most dehumanizing words in history on a global stage. During Black History Month. That word has weight and an impact that doesn’t disappear because of context or intent.

The Tourette’s community, who watched their condition get turned into a culture war flashpoint overnight. John Davidson has lived with this for 40+ years. His coprolalia is involuntary. The neuroscience is clear.

Neither community caused this.

The institutions with the power, the platform, the two-hour tape delay, and the responsibility did.

Both truths deserve to be held at the same time. And both communities deserved better than what happened that night.
