Aaah, because I love the sweet smell of petrochemicals...
.
A piggy back to my last post “clean beauty”— Fragrance another exhaustive topic but let’s dive in a bit! Definitely recommend going free if you have any apparent inflammatory skin condition!

.
First, fragrance is put in cosmetics to entice you. To provoke a sensorial experience that you get from applying a scented product. Additionally, fragrance is often added to cosmetics to mask unpleasant scents that some ingredients might scare away some consumers, so many companies add scents to mask it. Fragrance is a complex material as it can contain thousands of ingredients, and many companies do not disclose what the actual composition is. It will be difficult to hone in on the particular chemical one may be sensitive to.
.
PIGMENTED CONTACT DERMATITIS:
Common in perfumes are styrenes and phthalates which are known endocrine disruptors and carcinogens and are extremely common in fragrance.  I think like any chemical ingredients it depends on origin and Phthalates is one of them. However, they are banned in most countries, Canada and even China- but not in the U.S. They can contain hazardous synthetic petro-chemicals. Through my years I’ve noticed fragrance induced pigment damage on the sides of the neck and chest, especially on women, the most frequently sprayed spot. UV exposure exacerbates the inflammatory response which then triggers the melanocytes (pigment producing cells) and damage how they work. That’s why I believe it’s best to avoid or reduce. Especially, if you are sensitive.
.
The total accumulation of these type of chemicals in our body can have a negative impact from skin issues, sensitivity, pigmentation and even a chemical migraine — it’s happened to me from just a quick exposure to cologne, stinky candles or Trees hanging in UBER 🤢🤮,corrosive cleaning products. I’ve had this continue to set off vertigo and swelling around my eyes. Not fun and tbh, can trigger PTSD for me! So I’ll remind my clients please don’t wear any perfumes or any scent for that matter when coming for a treatment! 🙏🏽 CONT... in comments 👇🏽 XO #skinshero⚡️ to the rescue
