Never let your boss assume things of you.

Assumptions are the fastest way to stay overlooked. Let’s fix that 👇

If you want to look good in front of your boss, you can’t rely on “they should know what I’m doing.”

I’ve seen too many smart, capable women fall into this trap and get passed over for promotions.

Instead, frame your work updates around the effect they have, not the effort they took.

→ Stop listing actions. Start naming outcomes.

🗣“I consolidated the reporting process” → “I cut reporting time by 30% and reduced errors by half.”

→ Tie every update to a business priority.

Your boss hears impact, not activity. Lean into that.

🗣 “This experiment increased engagement by 18%, which moves us closer to our annual retention target.”

→ Make the invisible work visible before assumptions take over.

If you don’t control the narrative, someone else does.

🗣 “I wanted to flag one thing. I identified a risk early on, aligned both marketing and ops teams, and resolved it before it slowed delivery. I wanted to share so you have full visibility on what happened and how I’ve kept the project on track.”

🗣 “Quick FYI. I handled the stakeholder concerns last week that were blocking sign-off. It’s all aligned now, and that’s what allowed us to move forward without delay.”

My latest video dives even deeper into my 3 strategies to look good in front of your boss. Don’t miss it!
