Here’s how to break free before it follows you in your new role:

#1. Adjust your mindset: Detach your identity from every comment, glance or silence. 

Your last boss made everything feel like a personal attack. That’s trauma talking, not truth.

In your new job, adopt the art of Indifference:
→ “This isn’t about me. It’s about moving the business forward.”

#2. Adjust your message: Use fact > feeling

You’re likely still flinching when feedback comes. Don’t react. Respond.

Use my script for reprogramming feedback triggers:

→ “Thanks for the input. Can you walk me through a concrete example so I can make it better?”

#3. Adjust the moment: Create a 30-day reset ritual

Set 1 short weekly reflection to get past the aftermath of your past boss:

• What negative things am I repeating that noone here actually said?
• What proof do I have that this new team trusts me?
• What will I do differently this week to own my space here?

Write. Reread. Repeat.

💡Pro Tip: Feeling triggered? Ground yourself with this mantra before replying to anything:

→ “I may have been burned once, but I won’t allow myself to be burned twice. I get to choose how I show up moving forward. I won’t let my past boss have that control over me.”
