Snow began to fall over Velaris, soft and slow, turning the city into a dream.
Inside, Elain rolled cookie dough while Nyx sat beside her on the counter,
his tiny wings fluttering each time he laughed.

“Just one more chocolate chip,” he said—
and Elain pretended not to see him sneak three.

The fireplace glowed golden, the air smelled like sugar and vanilla,
and every giggle between them sounded like music against the quiet snow outside.
When the first batch came out warm and perfect,
Nyx clapped his hands and said, “We should save some for Lucien !”

Elain smiled, brushing flour from his hair.
“Maybe… if there are any left.” …
