I wish someone told me this sooner ⬇️

Starting medical school as a graduate-entry student, I thought I was ready — after all, I had a whole degree behind me. But the truth is, nothing could’ve prepared me for how mentally and emotionally tough this journey would be.

These are 3 lessons I had to learn the hard way:

1️⃣ You’re not lazy, you’re just scared: you don’t feel like doing it because you’re afraid the result will prove you’re not good enough. I’ve been there. If you just take the first step, I promise you’ll see — fear is just an illusion. If you keep rowing, I promise you’ll go further than ever before🚣‍♀️

2️⃣ You have WAY more time than you think: if you spend just one day recording where your time goes, I promise you’ll realise how much time you waste on things that don’t move the needle or maybe even make you happy⏰

3️⃣ You’re not falling behind — you’re just surrounded by high-achievers. Imposter syndrome in med school hits different. Everyone looks like they’ve got it together, but they don’t. You deserve to be here. The fact that you’re questioning yourself means you care. And people who care, grow. Don’t let the comparison game kill your confidence — your journey is valid, even if it looks different from everyone else’s.🌱

And if no one’s said this to you today — I’m proud of you! You’re doing better than you think, and I’m rooting for you always!! We’re in this together🤍
