I wish I realised this earlier⬇️

Procrastination isn’t always about being lazy or unmotivated. Most of the time, it’s deeper than that and no one really talks about it.

Here’s what I learnt after burning out in my first year of med school:

1️⃣ Distraction isn’t the root cause — it’s a way to escape.
I used to scroll for hours, not because I didn’t care about studying, but because I was scared. Scared of failing, scared I wasn’t enough. When I finally sat with that feeling, it got easier to show up for myself.

2️⃣ You’re not lazy, you’re overwhelmed.
When your brain is running on stress, of course you shut down. What helped me was starting small. One flashcard. One Pomodoro. One thing at a time. That’s how I got out of the spiral.

3️⃣ Perfectionism is just procrastination in disguise.
I kept waiting to feel “ready” or to get it perfectly right. But truth is, clarity comes after action; not before. Just start messy. You can fix it later. That’s how you build momentum.

Give yourself grace. You’re doing better than you think 🤍

📌Save this for later!
