On the eve of #stbrigidsday  Bridget in Manhattan has just won Best Historical Screenplay at the Best Script Awards in London. 

This time last year, I was deep in development on this TV series with sundanceorg Collab tutors, shaping the story of these trailblazing women who were a pivotal part of  New York in 1920 but were nearly erased from history.
✨ Ellen O’Byrne – Arrived in New York alone, aged 15 on an immigrant ship from Ireland and built a multimillion-dollar music empire, founding the first-ever Irish music label with Columbia Records.
✨ Anne Tracy Morgan – A banking heiress rebuilding war-ravaged France while privately hiding a forbidden love.
✨✨ Belle da Costa Greene – A brilliant intellectual and visionary curator, the daughter of Harvard’s first Black graduate, who became the most powerful art collector of her time—while keeping her African American heritage a secret and passing as white in a society that would have denied her power..

This award from Best Script Awards, ranked among the Top 25 screenwriting competitions in Europe is a tribute to these women’s legacies.
