And loving where you come from can be complicated.

I wasn’t born Brazilian by choice — but I carry Brazil in my rhythm, in my skin, in my smile.
Still, my relationship with my country has been layered… passionate, intense, sometimes disappointing.

There were moments I felt distant. Moments I questioned.
Moments I didn’t even feel like labeling myself as Brazilian.

But then… Carnival comes.
And suddenly I remember.

I remember the color.
The music that feels like a heartbeat.
The resilience of people who work all year long — tirelessly — just to live fully for this one magical week.

Like so many Brazilians, we hustle, we sacrifice, we build dreams far from home…
And yet when the drums start, something inside us awakens.

Brazil is not perfect.
But it is vibrant.
It is warm.
It is human.
It is joy in its purest form.

I had the incredible opportunity to choose the United States as my home — and I’m grateful every single day.
Still, no matter where I go, the world reminds me where I’m from.

And maybe that’s not a burden.
Maybe it’s a gift.

Because even when the relationship feels complicated…
Carnival reminds me:
Brazil lives in me.

And that… I can celebrate. 🇧🇷✨
