I’m sure a lot of producers/engineers can relate!

Brian & Jim were talking about why they actually prefer the simplest demo possible.

Not the produced-stacked vocals-808s knocking-ten plugins deep version.

Just the song.

Because once an artist falls in love with a super polished demo, it’s game over. Every mix becomes… “Can we make it exactly like the demo?” And now the engineer is basically reverse engineering a rough draft instead of building something better.

The demo is supposed to capture the idea. The feeling. The bones.

Leave room for the studio to do what the studio does.

Trust the process. Let the record evolve.
