This is the Laughing Kookaburra, one of Australia’s most iconic birds and the largest of the kingfishers.

Fun fact: they live in family groups and defend a shared territory year round. The “laugh” is actually a coordinated territorial call and the sound can carry for over a mile.

TBH, I kind of love that nature gave these adorable little forest muppets a full on villain laugh as their method of property defense.
