Did you know San Diego Zoo Wildlife Alliance grows 133 types of bamboo? Yun Chuan and Xin Bao munch on a weekly selection of their favorite types, with each bear receiving 45kg of bamboo every single day. Each part of the bamboo plant is most nutritious at a different time of year, so pandas have learned to eat with the seasons, enjoying tender shoots in spring, leaves in summer, and stems in fall and winter.
