Seoul (seoulcity) has officially cracked the top 10 of Time Out’s “World’s 50 Best Cities for 2026,” landing at No. 9 for the first time ever. 🌏

What’s even more impressive?
The city jumped 33 spots from last year’s No. 42, showing some serious momentum.

Time Out highlighted Seoul’s biggest strength as its year-round culture and things to do across all four seasons. The ranking was based on surveys from locals in 150 major cities worldwide, along with evaluations from urban experts, looking at categories like food, culture, nightlife, and overall city life.

This year’s No. 1 city is Melbourne, followed by Shanghai, Edinburgh, London, New York, Cape Town, Mexico City, and Bangkok.

Seoul comes in right after Bangkok at No. 9, with Tokyo rounding out the top 10.

Among Asian cities, Seoul ranked third, behind Shanghai and Bangkok.

Looks like more and more people around the world are falling in love with Seoul. ✨

특히 지난해 42위에서 무려 33계단 상승하며 눈에 띄는 저력을 보여줬는데요.

타임아웃은 서울의 강점으로 사계절 내내 다양한 문화와 즐길 거리를 경험할 수 있는 도시 환경을 꼽았는데요! 

이번 순위는 전 세계 150개 주요 도시 시민 설문과 도시 전문가 평가를 종합해 음식, 문화, 야간 문화, 생활 환경 등 다양한 항목을 기준으로 매겨졌다고 해요.

한편 이번 순위에서는 멜버른이 1위를 차지했으며, 상하이, 에든버러, 런던, 뉴욕, 케이프타운, 멕시코시티, 방콕이 그 뒤를 이었습니다. 서울은 방콕 다음인 9위에 올랐고, 도쿄는 10위를 기록했습니다.

서울은 아시아 도시 가운데 상하이와 방콕에 이어 세 번째로 높은 순위를 차지했는데요. 점점 더 많은 사람들이 서울을 사랑하게 되는 것 같아 괜히 뿌듯해지네요! ✨
