BIG WIN: A court has dismissed a lawsuit pushing for old-growth logging in the Tongass National Forest. 🐻🌲🎉

This win comes after a legal intervention by the Center and our allies to block the revival of industrial old-growth logging in the Tongass National Forest. 

The Tongass is one of the world’s largest intact temperate old-growth rainforests and is home to many beloved species, including these adorable Alaskan black bears. 

Ancient forests like the Tongass are also one of our most powerful natural defenses against the climate crisis, storing vast amounts of carbon and supporting rich ecosystems. 

“This ruling is a big victory for the Tongass’ old-growth forests. I’m relieved the court squarely rejected the logging industry's rash attempt to force large-scale logging,” said Marlee Goska, Alaska attorney at the Center.
