A Mother’s Love

For several days we watched polar bear mothers raise their young in Churchill. I’ve seen a lot of unique animal behavior in my time photographing wildlife and this was among the most special. 

There were very human aspects to the way the mother interacted with her cubs. This would range from going on walks with them after they nursed, to watching the cubs wrestle with each other in the ocean. At every moment she was a stones throw away ready to protect them while also giving them the freedom to play!
