If you ever want to travel through time in Google Maps streetview, tap where it says "see more dates", and then select a year below. The furthest it goes back is 2007.

The cameras were not as good as they are now so the quality tends to get worse the further you go back, but it's still pretty good. 

They only have the years when a Google car drove by and captured more photos, so not every road has every year. The busier areas tend to have more.
