Designing a downtown around the handful of days it gets super busy is like building your whole house around Thanksgiving dinner... sure, it's really busy once, maybe twice a year, but the rest of the time you're stuck with giant, empty spaces you don't need / can't fill / can't afford. Cities, in general, but downtowns specifically, deserve better than to be shaped by its busiest days.
