This Michigan island is all about old-world hospitality. It’s like a blast from the past!

There are no cars on the island and no chain hotels. At every corner you’ll find horses, carriages, bicycles, and history! 

Here’s how you should spend your day on the island:

- Take the Star Line Ferry to the island
- Rent a bike (there are plenty of bike rental options downtown)
- Grab coffee and breakfast at Watercolor Cafe
- Bike Lake Shore Boulevard to Arch Rock (you’ll have to ditch your bike and climb the 207 steps to the top)
- Continue biking the 8.2 miles around the island
- Explore the Grand Hotel and its grounds
- Visit Fort Mackinac
- Grab a late-lunch or early dinner at Pink Pony
- Shop downtown and don’t forget the fudge for the ferry ride back
- Take the Star Line Ferry back to the mainland
