I spent a long weekend traveling Minneapolis, Minnesota as a solo female traveler. 🤍

I have so much amazing content, so a full itinerary will be on its way. For now, I wanted to share some captures from the Minneapolis Sculpture Garden. 📍 

I also wanted to share some general safety rules and tips I follow to feel comfortable traveling solo as a female. 

1. Create an itinerary in advance and share it with loved ones. 

2. Share any Uber rides with your loved ones so they can track your ride.

3. Bring along a portable phone charger.

4. I use one AirPod while walking to listen to Google Maps for directions. I prefer listening so I’m not staring down at my phone, ignoring my surroundings. I don’t like having the volume play aloud because it signals to everyone you don’t know the area.

5. Research the area, safety, and what you want to do. Decrease your anxiety by being prepared.

6. It’s okay to lie. While on this trip, I wasn’t enjoying an Uber ride. He was asking pretty personal questions and he kept locking the doors. I crafted a story of how I was in a long-distance relationship and on my way to meet my boyfriend. He stopped asking questions after that. 

7. Follow your instincts. Your gut feeling is often correct. If a situation feels off, it probably is. Remove yourself from it asap.

8. I know a lot of people feel hesitant about eating out alone. I prefer sitting at the bar to help relieve some of this anxiety.
