2 LAKH CENTRAL FORCES IN BENGAL! FIRST-EVER MASSIVE ELECTION DEPLOYMENT

The Election Commission of India is preparing for an unprecedented security deployment ahead of the West Bengal elections. Nearly 2000 companies of Central Armed Police Forces (CAPF) are set to be deployed across the state.

Since one company equals around 100 personnel, the total deployment will reach about 2 lakh security personnel — reportedly the first time such a massive central force deployment is planned for a single state election in India.

Forces including the Central Reserve Police Force will be stationed in sensitive districts to ensure free, fair and violence-free polling across West Bengal.
