Picture this: You’re sitting in a mansion in upstate New York, surrounded by your closest friends and live music

This is the environment Ragnar Kjartansson creates in his video installation “The Visitors” (2012). Kjartansson describes the mansion as a “bohemian castle and as you enter the gates, you enter a psychedelic version of the 19th century. Everything in it is exactly how it was in the 1870s.” Surrounded by nine video screens, this hour-long work depicts various musicians playing one continuous song.

Curious what Kjartansson’s score sounds like? Head to Floor 6 during your next visit to get the full artwork experience.
