This isn’t just about “Deiver” who misses school and wants to participate in a spelling bee. It’s also about how we have normalized children being held in Detention. 

Deiver is one of many children held at the CoreCivic-operated facility in Dilley, where families have reported poor conditions, including inedible food, they have to pay for water and inadequate medical care, some children are held way beyond the standard 20-day limit.

Reporter Lidia lidiaterrazasnews has been doing great work bringing attention to the stories of many children at Dilley Detention Center in Texas. One by one we have been getting them released with the help of Congressman like Joaquin joaquincastrotx . Recently Deivers story was highlighted by the amazing msrachelforlittles 

This time the attention is on Deiver. He wants to be back in school by the first week of May to participate in a spelling bee. That’s it he wants to be back in school, he wants nothing else. Maybe we can come together once again and push for his release.
