The UC Board of Regents voted in closed session Wednesday to settle the Brandeis Center’s 2023 lawsuit which alleged UC Berkeley failed to respond to antisemitic harassment and discrimination on campus.

More broadly, the agreement includes mandatory antisemitism and anti-discrimination training for students, faculty and staff, creates a Title VI officer to oversee investigations and requires an annual campus student life survey that includes questions on campus climate for Jewish and Israeli students.

The UC Regents will also pay the Brandeis Center $1 million in legal fees.

Correction 3/19/2026: A previous version of this story said campus adopted the International Holocaust Remembrance Alliance’s definition of antisemitism. In fact, campus has considered it since 2024. The post has been updated to reflect changes to the article.
