The first time Lulu Twidale picked up a basketball, she wasn’t thinking about college programs, professional leagues or 3-point records. She was a little sister following in the footsteps of her eldest brother.

Few would have predicted this path. Pursuing basketball, especially in college, wasn’t something she had seriously considered — until suddenly it was.

Twidale is now a junior guard for Cal, serving as one of the team’s most important players and its steadiest presence. She has set Cal’s second-best single-season 3-point mark, racked up assists at a rate that makes her one of the tougher players in the conference to guard and has stepped into a leadership role on a younger roster that has come to lean on her.
