There are family get-togethers — and then there's gathering your entire brood together to make a low-budget horror movie about [checks notes] a family of artists who get together to make a low-budget horror movie. That's exactly what co-directors #kevinbacon and Kyra Sedgwick did with their kids, actor Sosie Bacon ('Smile') and musician-composer Travis Bacon, last year. And the result, titled — what else? — 'Family Movie,' was one of the more anticipated and raucous premieres at this year's @SXSW.

The whole Bacon clan sat down with film critic/horror nerd/shaggy-bearded amateur therapist David Fear at the Rolling Stone Studio Live at @SXSW, presented by @jbl, to talk about bringing their high-concept genre movie to the Austin-based film festival, what it's like to make a film that's fun for the whole family (who's making it), why people love horror flicks, and what happens when you have to watch your parents do a simulated sex scene on screen. Trust us, that last part is not nearly as bad as it sounds.
