## Caption

In 1950, the Canada Brick Company produced this series of pamphlets celebrating the architecture of Iran and the incredible possibilities of brick construction. The series appears to have been sent to architects in order to encourage them to create brick buildings. These copies were saved in the papers of the architect Mandel Sprachman.

1. A selection of photo spreads from the pamphlets, which are collectively titled Iran as Promises from the Past: Excitements in Brick Construction. All pamphlets are in Fonds 122, Series 871, File 259.

2. Examples of ribbed domes from Isfahan, Zavareh, and Yazd, dating to the Seljuk and Mongol periods.

3. Patterned brick walls and towers from the eighteenth-century citadel of Shiraz.

4. Images of the covered bazaar in Isfahan.

5. Patterned minarets in Isfahan, and the shrine of Fatima in Qum.
