Riverwood International Charter School Senior Mary Boa has committed to play Volleyball for Calvin University in Grand Rapids, Michigan. She was recruited as a middle blocker for the Knights, who compete in the Michigan Intercollegiate Athletic Association.

Boa played at Riverwood all four years, including two years on Varsity. She served as Team Captain her senior year and was selected as a First-Team All-Region player for Region 4-6A. She was named Best Offensive Player in 2022 and MVP for the 2021 season.

Additionally, Boa played for TK Volleyball Club for the last three years, and she credits them with helping in her development as a player.

Boa is also a founding member of Riverwood’s Flag Football Team. During her Junior Year (the team’s inaugural season), Boa was selected as Co-Defensive Player of the Year for Area 6, and was named to the Georgia Athletics Coaches Association (GACA) 2021 All-State Team.

Boa is a member of the National Honor Society, Beta Club, and is a four-year Principal’s List Honor Roll student. In addition, she is Student Government Treasurer, serves on the leadership team for Fellowship of Christian Athletes (FCA), and is an International Baccalaureate Certificate Candidate.

Boa chose Calvin because not only does she love the Volleyball coach and the program, but Grand Rapids is close to her family, so the team felt like home. She is thinking about majoring in exercise science or early education.
