Just had an epic kayaking adventure around Merritt Island, Florida, where we experienced the magical bioluminescent waters! Every time a fish swam past our clear kayak, the water lit up like something straight out of Avatar. 🌌✨ Watching the bubbles in the bottom of our kayak and the front light up blue as we glided through the water was surreal!

Bioluminescence season kicks off as early as late May or June, with the peak between July and September. For the ultimate experience, book a tour during a new moon to amplify the glittering water and shimmering stars. Keep an eye on the weather, as rain and storms can affect the glow.

I wish I could’ve captured better photos, but the light was minimal and we were always moving. Next time, I definitely want to bring a tripod with long legs and dock somewhere to capture this beauty.

The bioluminescence in Florida is caused by dinoflagellates, microscopic organisms that emit light when agitated. This phenomenon occurs with physical disturbances, like waves or a moving boat.

Adding to the surreal experience, we also saw the Milky Way as we cruised under a starry night ✨ and then we also saw the NASA nasa launch pad, making it feel truly out of this world. From paddling through glowing waters to seeing a spacecraft on the launch pad, this adventure was unforgettable! 🚀🌊
