Florida State’s defensive backfield should be a strength for them during the 2026 season.

Bringing back the likes of Ja’Bril Rawls and Ashlynd Barker was massive for the Seminoles. They added South Alabama cornerback Nehemiah Chandler via the transfer portal, where he recorded 32 tackles (2.5 for loss), two interceptions and 13 pass breakups during the 2025 season (according to ESPN Stats and Information).

Chandler should be able to compete for starting reps at cornerback alongside Rawls. The defensive backfield could be one of the better units in the conference, but it all depends on the defensive line being able to get after the opposing quarterbacks.
