Coming into my second full distance Ironman, I didn’t have a goal time in mind, I just wanted to race the race more aggressively than last year. Sub 10hrs was always a dream, but never thought it would be attainable. Conditions were great on the day. Apart from swimming through millions of jellyfish, getting stung on the foot, and having them getting stuck to your face, the swim was great. The bike had a preferred wind direction which helped. The goal was to push a decent effort, but save the legs for the marathon run to come. Once I got my feet on the ground I felt pretty good. At the halfway mark, Ricky and Rob told me I needed to match or negative split the last 13 miles to go sub 10. Thankfully I found some energy and was able to push the last 10km. Huge thanks to rickytaylorrace, r.mc.101, and mrsjrotax101 for coming out to support me. spencerpigot for going through the painful process of doing another Ironman. Coach toddbuckone for getting me to this level that I never thought was possible. And my partners hammernutrition and zippspeed for giving me the extra speed on race day.
