There are 4 ways to measure distance in golf! 🏌️‍♂️ But which is best for you? 🤔 First is the rangefinder. You zap the pin and it gives you the exact number. It’s the most accurate option out there, and you can even adjust for slope on some models. But it’s useless on blind shots, awkward to pick up hazards, and if your hands are shaky, good luck locking onto anything. Second is GPS devices and watches. These use satellites to give you distances to the front, middle, and back of the green. They’re super quick, often show distances to hazards, and some even track your stats. But they’re less precise and some have small screens that are awkward to use. Third is smartphone apps These are basically GPS watches on your phone. They’re cheap, easy to use, and the big screen makes everything clear. But accuracy isn’t perfect, it kills your battery, and pulling your phone out every shot isn't ideal. And finally the yardage book. This is a detailed map of the hole where you use landmarks to work out your number. It’s what pros use because they're not allowed to use any technology. It’s great for understanding the course and playing strategically. But for most golfers, it’s just too slow and hard to use properly. The best way to get your yardages depends on your level… and your budget. If you’re a beginner, a simple app will do the job.
