For this week’s story of #HowWeMetAtRU, we have Clara, Kina, Michelle, Karen, Kana, Kelsey, Kait, & Bianca ✨

"We call ourselves the Guilden Girls. Not to be confused with the Golden Girls… although I’ve always wondered why there was never a show based around our lives with all the shenanigans we got into. 

Kina and I met freshman year through our mutual friend Wali. Michelle and I bonded when she began swiping me in at the Livingston Gym. Then entered Karen, Michelle’s roommate. Kina lived on their floor, and her sister Kana was added to the Guilden roster when she transferred to Rutgers sophomore year. Kelsey, our Guilden angel, was my floormate freshman year. Each of us is a unique puzzle piece. Together, we create a masterpiece. From twerking in Cancun during our Spring Break senior year to backpacking across Europe twice, we have seen the world together. 

Just when we thought our years at Rutgers were our peak, our friendship only deepened with annual Friendsgivings, bachelorette parties, bridal showers, weddings, 5K races, celebrating birthdays/holidays/milestones and more. We have watched each other grow from late teens to 30-year-old adults navigating the real world. I will forever be grateful to Rutgers for bringing me my sisters. Home will always be where the R is."
