Big boy bed!!! 
I had loads of questions on this topic so I wanted to share what worked (so far) for us, why we did it and also some of your tips that were sent to me. I don’t think there’s any right or wrong age to do this. My motto is always whatever works for you is the right way. 

As soon as I posted a story sharing that I was moving Miles to a toddler bed, my DMs were filled with WHY??? Why so soon? I knew I wanted to have Miles in a toddler bed before the 2nd baby arrives because they will be sharing a room and I wouldn’t want to make the change over with another baby in the room. As well, I wanted him to get used to a big boy bed so that when we travel we don’t have to pack a crib/packnplay. So those were the two main reasons. There wasn’t much more to it. 

Similar to when we took his pacifier away, it never scared me because I knew that if it didn’t work out then we would give it back because the timing wasn’t right. The same goes for the toddler bed, if he didn’t adjust well then we would have put his crib back together and try again when he seemed ready. Luckily he adjusted to both changes better than I imagined. He may have got a few bruises from his first night of the transition but seems to have figured out where to lay in the bed now 😂. 

Tips 
-Don’t make a big deal of the transition. Act as if nothing has changed 
-Red light stay, green light go. Use something that signals its time to stay in bed and when it’s time to get up. We have been used our @hatchforsleep sound machine red light/green light setting. 
-keep them in a sleep sack 
-lay a pillow below the bed incase they do decide to make an exit. Miles has yet to make an attempt but I know it’s only a matter of time… right?!
