Whew! #Roommates, remember the “prison bae” #JeremyMeeks, the man whose mugshot went viral back in 2014? Well, he opened up about the unexpected downside of that internet fame while he was still behind bars.

On the “Inside True Crime” podcast, Jeremy shared that after his mugshot went viral, random people started showing up while he was housed in the Sacramento County jail NOT federal prison. In federal prison the visitor has to be approved and on the list.

Jeremy explained that he would immediately deny the visits after seeing unfamiliar faces through the glass, telling officers he didn’t know the person. However, he says the jail still counted those attempted visits toward his weekly limit.

According to Jeremy, inmates were allowed only two visits per week, and those random appearances ended up taking up the spots his family would normally use. “So now my family can’t come because I got random people coming to see me,” he said, adding that the situation was frustrating while he was locked up.
