Welcome back to the series #AskTheMidsMonday, where we have midshipmen answer your questions.

For this Monday, we interviewed several first class (senior) midshipmen who have service selected submarines. The midshipmen featured are MIDN 1/C Vanessa Ortiz, MIDN 1/C Clifford Vuong, MIDN 1/C Amanda Agustin, and MIDN 1/C Joseph Day.

The three questions for our midshipmen were:
1) What’s your ideal submarine and where?
2) A submariner you look up to?
3) How do you pronounce this word: submariner?

Some terminology used:
Fast Attack: a multi-mission submarine capable of surveillance and intelligence gathering, special warfare operations, mining and anti-mine operations, precision strike, anti-submarine warfare, and anti-surface warfare, just to name a few.
Boomer: nickname given to a ballistic submarine designed specifically for stealth and the precise delivery of nuclear warheads. Boomers are approximately 200 feet longer than Fast Attack submarines, and the Trident class boomers are capable of carrying up to 24 Trident D-5 Ballistic Missiles.
Virginia Class: the newest class of fast attack submarine; the Virginia class is the quietest, most capable submarine ever developed.
