Our students from the Jazz & Contemporary Trainee concentration brought a fierce, theatrical energy into jazz class with faculty member Hannah Gundermann hannydancy. The work centered on performance quality, where every detail mattered. Sharp accents were pushed further, while moments of restraint required just as much control, asking Trainees to shift seamlessly between power and subtlety within a single phrase.⁠

There was a clear focus on how intention reads from the outside. Not just executing movement, but refining texture, timing, and nuance so each choice felt specific and fully embodied. Small shifts in focus, breath, and dynamic transformed the work, deepening the clarity and presence of each Trainee in the space.⁠
