Earth’s climate is more out of balance than ever.

The last 11 years have been the hottest on record.
Oceans are absorbing massive heat.
Ice is melting.
Extreme weather —including heavy rainfall, floods, drought, wildfires, heatwaves and more— is impacting millions.

These rapid, large-scale changes have occurred within just a few decades but will have harmful repercussions for hundreds —and potentially thousands— of years, warns the World Meteorological Organization (wmo_omm) on Monday’s #WorldMeteorologicalDay.

“Our global climate is in a state of emergency,” said #UnitedNations Secretary-General antonioguterres. “The way ahead must be grounded in science, common sense and the courage to take urgent #ClimateAction.”
