It’s back in the wild after a quarter of a century 🐊🏁

Our victorious Audi R8 LMP “Crocodile” is in Melbourne to celebrate the upcoming Australian Grand Prix. While we count down the days to the Formula 1® debut of Audi Revolut F1® Team, swipe left to take a trip down memory lane.

It’s the last day of the year 2000 and allanmcnish and dindocap are on their way to winning the “Race of a 1000 Years” in Australia. The Audi R8 that the duo is sharing is wearing a special crocodile livery for the season finale of the 2000 American Le Mans Series (ALMS), hosted on the street circuit in Adelaide. Allan started the race from pole position for the opening phase, handed over to Dindo, and is now back behind the wheel to take the checkered flag after completing 225 laps – almost six hours of racing. Victory for Allan and Dindo Down Under. The result also crowns Allan as the 2000 ALMS drivers’ champion. But it was not a week without ups and downs for the Scotsman. Ahead of the race on Sunday, Allan celebrated his birthday on Friday – the “crocodile” was the perfect cake holder – and then hurt his back after stepping out of a kilt that he wore for a photo shoot. After going to the hospital on Friday and resting on Saturday, while Dindo clinched pole position, Allan nursed his injury and drove the car on Sunday to win alongside his teammate.

Great memories to look back on ahead of creating new ones. 25 years later, Allan is back in Australia driving the Audi R8 and ready to start the season in his role as the director of the Audi Driver Development Programme. Looking forward to Sunday.
