Financial discipline is very important for a couple . 

It’s a planning on bird’s view : 
Plan the months you spend for festival , events like birthday , anniversary etc . Any known function ( eg someone is pregnant is close family , you know there is going to lot of functions etc ) 

On an average Feb and Mar month salary is recieved only after a huge tax cut for many so let’s leave it .

Most schools ask us to pay fee by March , April and May consider it as school fee , school supplies and while kids are home we try to take them outside even if it is a park you will have expenses more compared to regular month . 

Diwali , navarathi and many festival days come in sep October . 

So estimate the cost before hand and plan it to save monthly in RD or flexible RD . 

Include expense like car service , insurance renewal, tax , home maintenance, buying clothes , vacation , functions and save it as pockets . 

You may not use in every year but you will have a reserve cash and this will avoid unnecessary emi or credit card purchase .
