Accenture has agreed to buy Ookla, the company behind Speedtest and Downdetector, in a deal valued at about $1.2 billion.

The platforms, currently owned by Ziff Davis, are widely used tools for checking internet speeds and tracking outages of online services.

Accenture plans to use Ookla’s large network data sets to help enterprises, telecom operators, and cloud providers analyze network performance and support future AI and connectivity infrastructure.

The deal still requires regulatory approval, but Accenture said the services are expected to continue operating largely as they do today after the acquisition.
