A few days ago she was in an operating room, lying beneath bright surgical lights while a retinal specialist worked to save her vision. Retinal detachment surgery—the phrase alone hits like a punch. The worry, the what-ifs, the fear of losing the world in half its colors… it’s a cocktail no one orders but some folks get served anyway.

So here she is, on Thirsty Thursday, letting herself feel the swirl of relief, anger, gratitude, and the quiet terror that still clings to the edges.
