How does that compare with your current tax system? Comment below 👇🏼

 Monaco residency tax system

- Applicable to all nationalities except the French (bilateral agreement).

- No Personal Income Tax for residents in Monaco, regardless of the income type (salary, dividends, capital gains, rental income, etc.).

- No Capital Gain Tax on the sale of securities, real estate or other personal asset, whether those are in Monaco or outside.

- No Wealth Tax (worldwide asset).

- No Inheritance or Gift Tax on the assets located outside Monaco. When the asset is in Monaco, there is 0% inheritance tax when passed to your children/spouse, and then scaling up to 16% when passed to a more distant relative, or unrelated person.

- For residents who set up a business in Monaco carrying commercial or industrial activities only, and generate more than 25% of the business revenue outside Monaco, then you will have a 25% corporate tax on the business profit. If you generate more than 75% of your revenue in Monaco, then there is no corporate tax, with the exception of some service categories such as the sale of patent, trademark or intellectual property.

- Even so there is no income tax, there is still social security contribution if you employ people in Monaco. As an employer you will be charged on average 35% of your employee’s gross salary. This will vary with the industry, salary brackets, etc..

- There is also a 20% VAT applied to most goods and services in Monaco.

- If you buy a residential property the transaction tax is a flat 6.25%, no difference whether you buy under your own personal or via a SPV (Special Purpose Vehicle) as long as the UBO (Ultimate Beneficial Owner) name is disclosed. Purchasing via an opaque offshore structure where the UBO is not disclosed will trigger a transaction tax of 11.5%. Then no council tax going forward, but you will have a private service charge associated to the building maintenance.

As always, run a full in depth assessment with your tax advisor before making any decision.
