Today another modernist landmark, the Ouzonian building on Talaat Harb Street (formally Soliman Pasha Street), built around 1950 and designed by architect Sayed Karim. Despite Karim’s best efforts, Egyptian modernism — a hybrid of the International Style and local practices — did not translate into a fully developed “movement ».
